Green World
Meet a New Plant: Allium Giganteum
Allium giganteum or giant onion is a type of bulb that grows up to 5 to 6ft-tall in well-drained soils. The plant bears large rounded flower heads with a multitude of star-shaped flowers that are lilac-pink in colour.

These bulbs are often planted in gardens as they blend beautifully with other flowering blooms such as irises or peonies. The flowers are also used in fresh and dry arrangements.

Meet a New Bird: Passerina Ciris
The Passerina ciris or painted bunting is a medium-sized finch with stubby and thick seed-eating bills. They weigh between 13 and 19gms and can be spotted across USA, southern Mexico and
Central America. The males of this species are beautifully vibrant with blue heads, red underparts, red eye-rings and green backs. The females and young ones or juvenile painted buntings are bright yellowish-green in colour with pale eye-rings. They feed on seeds and insects and usually breed in thick grassy areas or woodland edges.

Meet a New Anima: Ailurus Fulgens
Ailurus fulgens or the red panda is herbivorous and slightly larger than a domestic cat with a bear-like body and thick russet fur. These mammals have black bellies and limbs and white markings on the side of their head and above their eyes. Skilful and acrobatic, red pandas are usually perched in trees and almost about 50% of them live in the eastern Himalayas. They use their long bushy tails for balance and to cover themselves in winter. They eat bamboo and plants.

Music for Your Ears
Know Your Instrument: Theremin
Origin: Russia
The theremin, also known as the reminvox or etherophone, is an electronic musical instrument that was invented by Leon Theremin in the Soviet Union around 1920s. This is perhaps the only instrument that doesn’t require a player’s physical touch. It is made out of a box and two metal antennas. When a player moves their hands above the instrument, the antennas sense it and change pitch and volume based on the hand placement. The instrument is regarded as the world’s earliest electronic instrument.
